YouTube Tags Extractor
Paste any video link and see the tags its creator actually used, plus category, length and the numbers. Copy the whole list with one click.
Works with normal links, youtu.be short links, Shorts, embed and live URLs, or a bare 11-character video ID.
Tags are the small lever. These are the visible ones
Tags barely move a video, as the page above says. What a viewer actually sees is the view count and the likes. Paced delivery, no password, from about ten dollars.
What video tags are, and what they are worth
Tags are keywords the uploader attaches to a video. YouTube stopped showing them on the watch page years ago, but they are still there and still public through the API, which is what this tool reads.
Be careful what you conclude from them. YouTube has said repeatedly that tags play a minimal role in ranking, mostly helping with common misspellings of a name. Title, thumbnail and how long people actually watch matter enormously more. Tags are worth looking at to understand how someone frames their topic, not as a formula to copy.
What to actually do with them
- See the vocabulary of a niche. Pull the tags from the ten videos ranking for your subject and the shared language becomes obvious.
- Catch the misspellings. This is the one job tags genuinely do. If your channel name is easy to get wrong, the variants belong in your tags.
- Check your own back catalogue. Paste your old videos and see what past-you thought the video was about.
What not to do is paste a competitor's tag list into your own video. It does not transfer their ranking, and a tag list that does not describe your video is just noise.
Questions
Why does this video have no tags?
Because the creator did not add any. It is common, especially on large channels that stopped bothering once YouTube de-emphasised them. An empty list is a real answer here, not an error: we tell you the video has none rather than pretending the lookup failed.
Can I see the tags of a private video?
No. Private videos are not readable by anyone but their owner, and unlisted videos work only if you have the link.
Do tags still help a video rank?
Barely. YouTube's own guidance is that tags have a minimal effect and are most useful for misspellings of your channel or topic name. Anyone selling you a tag strategy as the key to growth is selling you something.
Why is the like count sometimes missing?
Because the channel has hidden it. Dislikes have been unavailable to everyone since 2021, so no tool can show them, and anything claiming to is estimating.
Does the tag order mean anything?
It is the order the creator entered them, which usually puts the most important first. That is a hint about their intent, not a signal YouTube acts on.
