Why every other generator wastes your time
Type a word into the usual name generator and you get thirty pretty names. You pick one, you go to YouTube, and it is taken. Then the next one. Then the next one, because the good short ones went years ago and nobody bothered to tell you.

Name and handle are two different things, and only one has to be unique
- The channel name is what people read. It can be almost anything, it can contain spaces and capitals, and two channels can share it. You can change it later.
- The @handle is the unique one. Three to thirty characters, letters, numbers, dots, dashes and underscores, and it is what goes in your link. It is the one that gets taken.
Every suggestion here comes as a pair, so the name you like is one that can actually have a matching handle. That is why some pretty names do not appear: they produce a handle over thirty characters, and offering them would be offering something you cannot have.
What makes a name that lasts
- Say it out loud. If it needs spelling on the phone, it needs spelling in every video where somebody recommends you.
- Do not paint yourself into a corner. A name that describes exactly what you make today is a cage in two years. Plenty of channels have outgrown their own name and had to choose between confusion and starting over.
- Avoid numbers you will resent. Anything with a year, an age or a follower count in it expires on its own.
- Check the name is free elsewhere too, not just on YouTube. A handle you can also take on Instagram and TikTok is worth more than a slightly better one you can only have here.
- Do not borrow a trademark. Names that lean on somebody else's brand get taken away later, usually after you have done the work of making them known.
⚠️ What the check can and cannot tell you
It tells you whether a public channel is using that handle right now. That is a real answer and it is the one that eliminates most candidates.
It cannot promise the handle is yours. YouTube also holds back reserved names, names on channels with no public content, and names it considers to belong to a trademark. So the wording here is "no public channel is using it" rather than "available", because the second one would be a promise we are not in a position to keep.

What are the rules for a YouTube handle?
Three to thirty characters, made of letters, numbers, dots, dashes and underscores. It cannot be only numbers, and it has to be unique. Everything generated here already fits those rules.
Is the channel name the same as the handle?
No. The name is what people read and it does not have to be unique. The handle is the @ part in your link and it does. This tool gives you both, matched.
Can I change my channel name later?
The display name yes, easily. The handle can also be changed, but your old links stop working and anyone who wrote it down has the wrong one, so it is worth getting right at the start.
Why do some names not appear?
Because their handle would go over thirty characters. Offering a name whose handle cannot exist is the thing that makes the other generators useless.
Does it check other platforms?
No, only YouTube. It is worth checking Instagram and TikTok yourself before committing: one handle everywhere is worth more than a slightly better one in a single place.
